"Barefoot Bandit" Colton Harris-Moore ridiculed police and prosecutors in emails and phone calls from prison recently, undercutting his claims that he's sorry for his two-year crime spree, the U.S. attorney's office said in court documents filed Tuesday.

The 20-year-old, who awaits federal sentencing, referred to Island County Sheriff Mark Brown as the "king swine," called prosecutors who handled his case "fools," and referred to news reporters as "vermin." The self-taught pilot bragged about his two-year crime spree, during which he hopscotched the U.S. in stolen cars, boats and small planes before being captured in the Bahamas in July 2010 a hail of bullets.

Hey CL1,
Interesting article, and an amazing story thru and thru.
Colton is a kid pure and simple, at school I'm surrounded by kids his age. As much as they want to be grownups at twenty something, they are still kids.
Some of the kids who've transitioned to adulthood early are former soldiers, it's kinda sad to see at times, I appreciate what've they've done, but I'm saddened at the same time.
Colton deserves to spend time, maybe 5 or 6 years, but not a whole lot more. When he comes out he will be a different man all together, and it's sad.
His remarks are those of a child, and he should not be punished more because of them. He is probably feeling guilt over his crimes and feels he should spend more time than he's been sentenced. Give it a few years, when he fully understands what prison is, and he will want out as soon as he can be released.
I don't want to glamorize his crimes, but he is just a child, a broken child.
When he was in the thick of it, with all of the news reports in the media, he seemed so obviously to me, as someone that only knew how to get negative attention, and was smart enough to pull it off--and in a big way with extravagant crimes (until...he got caught). I always thought he 'was' glamorizing his own crimes. Yes, very much "a broken child."
I was afraid that picture of me would get out.
What's up CL1?
This kid sounds like the kind of guy you could drop off at the north pole in his underwear and just a tooth brush, and the next day he would be knocking at your door with a dark tan, wearing a three piece suit and greeting you with a million dollar smile.

The picture----Well, it's Ok... we knew you were just 'clowning' around. :)
I'm Ok, I guess (Thanks for asking!). How about you?
Yep, the guy is really something. He was kind of a stuntman, magician and con-artist all rolled up in a young mind and body.
He seemed to gloat in glamorizing his escapades... and was still gloating, imo, in his interpretation of how his sentencing and 'judgement' went. He seems to be someone that thrives on negative attention that focuses on his intelligence and ability to pull-off the unthinkable.

Yeah. That one caught me in one of my melancholic moments.
How about you?
If it gets any better I wouldn't be able to stand it.

Considering his family background, I think it is somewhat do to the lack of parental attention combined with a pent up intelligence that had no place to go. His mother sounds like the unfolding of a tragic opera, and his father a pile of high grade fertilizer-to put it politely.
